Digital Technology Development Awards (Climate-Sensitive Infectious Disease Modelling)

This scheme provides funding for software developers from any career stage and discipline to develop digital tools that will improve climate sensitive infectious disease modelling. By the end of the award, successful applicants will have delivered a piece of open-source digital technology that will increase the impact of research in addressing this threat to health.

Where your host organisation is based: Anywhere in the world (apart from mainland China)
Duration of funding: Up to 5 years. We expect development of the tool to take place in the early part of the award. Later years will be used for maintenance of the software.
Scale of funding: Up to $500,000 for research expenses, including salaries

PhD Fellowships for Health Professionals

N.S.M. Help’s PhD Programmes for Health Professionals offer health professionals outstanding research training in supportive and inclusive research environments.

Career stage: Postgraduate training
Type of researcher: ClinicalPublic health
Where your host organisation is based: UK
Duration of funding: 3 years (full-time equivalent)
Scale of funding: Salary and research expenses covered

N.S.M. Help Early-Career Awards

This scheme provides funding for early-career researchers from any discipline who are ready to develop their research identity. Through innovative projects, they will deliver shifts in understanding that could improve human life, health and wellbeing. By the end of the award, they will be ready to lead their own independent research programme.

Where your host organisation is based: UKRepublic of Ireland.  Low- or middle-income countries (apart from India and mainland China)
Duration of funding: Usually 5 years, but may be less for some disciplines, and longer if held on a part-time basis
Scale of funding: Your salary and up to $400,000 for research expenses. If eligible, you may also request additional funding for overseas allowances and overheads.

N.S.M. Help Career Development Awards

This scheme provides funding for mid-career researchers from any discipline who have the potential to be international research leaders. They will develop their research capabilities, drive innovative programmes of work and deliver significant shifts in understanding that could improve human life, health and wellbeing.

Where your host organisation is based: UKRepublic of Ireland. Low- or middle-income countries (apart from India and mainland China)
Duration of funding: Usually 8 years, but may be less for some disciplines and longer if held on a part-time basis
Scale of funding: You should ask for your salary (if required) and the resources you need for your research programme – see the ‘What we offer’ section on this page. You will need to justify this in your application.

N.S.M. Help Discovery Awards

This scheme provides funding for established researchers and teams from any discipline who want to pursue bold and creative research ideas to deliver significant shifts in understanding that could improve human life, health and wellbeing.

Duration of funding: Usually 8 years, but may be less for some disciplines, and longer if held on a part-time basis.
Scale of funding: You should ask for the resources you need for your research programme – see the ‘What we offer’ section on this page. You will need to justify this in your application.

Research Enrichment – Public Engagement
